Hello everyone.  Quite a bit of beer news, please enjoy responsibly!

2010 Fresh Hop IPA is Ready

A big Thank You to the regulars that helped us harvest the hops at our tasting room in Henley last month.  If you missed it, you can check out the pictures from the day here.

We harvested over 10kg of hops and brewed a very special batch of beer on our experimental brewery. We have just kegged this beer and the aroma brought me straight back to harvest day....mmmm.

The 2010 Fresh Hop IPA will be on the tasting room bar from Friday at 15:00 and will be available by the glass and by the growler for as long as it lasts...

...if you helped us pick the cones or helped out by bringing some of your own hops, your first pint is on the house.

Introducing our 69 IPA

If you are a regular to our tasting room, you'll have undoubtedly noticed that we have changed the name and branding for our Land of the Free IPA.  We wanted to get the point across that this is an American IPA, without necessarily flying the red, white and blue.  69 IPA is the result.

Same great hop flavour and aroma, just a different badge.

You will start to see 69 IPA rolled out to some of our more adventurous draught accounts and we will be launching it in bottles in several weeks time.  In the meantime, you can always come to the tasting room for a glass or a growler.

Dark Reserve No. 2

Another great beer that we have on the bar in the tasting room is a sneak peek of our Dark Reserve No. 2.  We used a similar recipe to the base beer of our Reserve No. 1, but this time invested in 3 Jack Daniels barrels, where the beer spent time patiently aging in our cellar.

The result is probably one of the best barrel aged beers that we've tasted.  We've picked up a lot of vanilla and other sweet flavours from the wood which perfectly balance out the dark chocolate and roasted notes in the base beer...check out a very kind review of this beer here.

We have a very limited amount of this beer available for tasters on the bar in the tasting room.  We will have bottles ready in time for Christmas, so stay tuned.

Changes to our Tasting Room

The more observant of you will have noticed that there are lots of things going on in our tasting room in Henley.  We've had to lose some of the space as we are going through the planning process to sort out the 200 year old floor in the building.

This first phase of the project is in preparation for more tanks, kegs and some automated keg cleaning equipment.  The second phase will see our own brew plant dropped into our space and visible from the tasting room.  Also, a very exciting 3rd phase is in the discussion stages which would see a significant increase in space available for both our brewery operations and tasting activities.

Very exciting times here, I hope you will be patient with the organised chaos during these improvements.

Other Changes

We're also reviewing the branding for all of our beers, with the emphasis on Lovibonds and our modern approach to beer.

As always, it is great to talk to you all about your ideas, whether that be over a pint, via email or from one of our invaluable feedback gatherings.  Keep the suggestions coming, they are much appreciated.

Fishers Gerrard Cross.

One of our most recent new customers is Fisher's Supermarket in Gerrards Cross.  Fisher's started out as a family butcher about the same time of the original John Lovibond and Sons.

This family run business is a wonderful oasis in what has become a homogenous grocery market.  Fisher's are very keen to help promote local producers and their support of Lovibonds is no exception.
